Matkailupalvelujen tuotteistaminen tehtävä 1

Hello Firtz,

First of all, welcome to Finland!
I believe that you will find many interesting attractions that you enjoy very much.

I have listed some of the locations in Finland, where you can explore old ships and the Finnish maritime history.

The first sight can be found in Kotka, The Maritime Museum of FinlandThe Maritime Museum collects and preserves items, photographs, archival material and literature pertaining to seafaring and boating.
In its main exhibition “North Star, Southern Cross”, the Maritime Museum of Finland tells about the history of seafaring in Finland, focusing on issues such as life of seafarers, development of ships, maritime trade, and travelling by sea. The main exhibition also covers the speciality of Northern seafaring, winter shipping and ice.  In the maritime museum you will find Tarmo,  Finnish steam-powered icebreaker.

It was Built in 1907 and was the last Finnish steam-powered icebreaker to remain in service until 1970. Since then the ship has been restored and it was opened to public in 2008.
More information about The Maritime Museum of Finland you can find here http://www.nba.fi/en/museums/maritime_museum

Next on the way you could maybe make a stop in Porvoo.
There you could have nice coffe break of dinner in this steam sailing ship Glückaufwhich was built at the end of the 19th century and is now a  now a restaurant and permanently standing by the riverbank of Porvoo.

In Helsinki you should go to Suomenlinnahttp://www.suomenlinna.fi/en/fortress/

Suomenlinna fortress was listed in 1991 on of the  unique military architecture monument in UNESCO World Heritage List.

One of the most popular attractions in Suomenlinna is The submarine Vesikko, used in the Second World War. By visiting the restored submarine, you can see the cramped interior environment where the approximately 20-member crew worked dozens of metres below the surface of the sea. During the Winter War and Continuation War during the European mink in its Gulf of Finland, in convoys, protection and patrol.

Next stop in Turku,  Finland's oldest City. I believe that here you will find the for sure the most interesting ships. One of our National treasure is Suomen Joutsen, Finnish Swan. Frigate that was built in 1902. *It was designed to be a cargo ship but mainly it has been as a schooling ship. I has also served during World War II submarine mother ship, as well as a war hospital and after World War II minesweepers base.

In Turku you will also find The Forum Marinum Maritime Centre. Centre has  in over 50 ships and boats. They also have various permanent and temporary maritime exhibitions.

Finland’s Baltic coast is a perfect travel destination for sailing  with all it's amazing archipelago so in the summertime you will find lot's of interesting happenings with international ships and boats.

I hope you will find this information helpfull when planning your trip. Should you have any other questions regarding your travelling plans, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best regards
Sanna-Mari
